Nigerian rapper, Panshak Zamani, better known as Ice Prince, is one of the most successful hip-hop artistes in Africa’s biggest entertainment industry. Ice Prince, 29, has won many awards as a music star but the fame he enjoys today is often credited to his hit single, Oleku, which was well received by the public.
The former church chorister reportedly left school because of financial constraints, but things have since improved for him. In 2013, he bought himself a 2010 model of Bentley GT Coupe, which costs over N30m.
Bentley describes the Continental GT as a fusion of extremes, and that it truly is. The styling is a blend of an elegant body shape and an inarguably luxurious interior specifically designed for rappers, superstar athletes, and rich individuals. The GT has something for everyone that can afford it, offering them an exciting and memorable experience.
One thing that has always separated Bentley from its former long-time partner, Rolls-Royce, is its racing heritage. Despite being massive, test drivers say they find corner placement easy, with the grip from its forged wheels and the effective and efficient ceramic brake discs, which stops the car as if it were 1,000 pounds lighter.
The GT is an excellent grand touring car that produces far more power than most drivers will ever need, and the luxurious cabin isolates occupants from the outside world’s harshness. It’s a car that will always impress those with discerning tastes.
The Coupe is lowered by 0.4 inch in the front and 0.6 inch at the rear, ensuring a firm but not harsh ride. Its interior is splendid and it’s one of the boldest Bentley ever built.
Unlike other luxury machines that tend to disconnect the driver from the road because of absolute noise insulation, the GT does its best to restore communication through the hardware that informs the driver about happenings outside.
Performance
Powering the Bentley Continental GT Speed is a 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged engine with 12 cylinders arranged in the Volkswagen Group’s unique W formation. This W12 power plant produces an impressive 600 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed automatic gear is the only transmission available, and it’s a four wheel drive.
Despite its hefty 5,180-pound curb weight, the Continental GT is said to accelerate from zero to 60 miles per hour in 4.3 seconds and its top speed is 202mph. As expected, fuel economy is unquestionably low, registering an Environmental Protection Agency-estimated 10 miles per gallon in the city, 17mpg on the highway and 13mpg in combined driving.
Features
The 2010 Bentley Continental GT is a premium luxury coupe, and its standard equipment include painted 20-inch alloy wheels, bi-xenon headlamps with washers, an automatically deploying rear spoiler, rain-sensing wipers, power door latches, front and rear parking sensors and keyless ignition.
Its interior features a full leather interior with a choice of primary and secondary hides in 17 colours, unique upholstery, multi-zone automatic climate control with rear-seat controls, 14-way power heated front seats, Bluetooth, navigation system and a 10-speaker stereo with satellite radio and a glovebox-mounted six-CD changer.
For those who need more features, options available include adaptive cruise control, an iPod input jack, a 1,100-watt 13-speaker Naim sound system with two subwoofers, massaging front seats, upgraded interior veneers and a rear-view camera.
Safety
The 2010 Bentley comes standard with stability control, antilock brakes and side curtain airbags for front and rear passengers. Its airbags are well distributed to safeguard the lives of the occupants in case of accident.
Driving Impression
It’s sound insulation and double-paned side glass reduces wind and road noise to near silence. Front seat comfort is excellent, befitting a car of this stature and price, but rear seat passengers will find their quarters much less accommodating. The trunk’s 13-cubic-foot capacity is respectable for this class of car, even though owners are still likely going to use the rear seats for cargo overflow.
Auto reviewers commended the GT’s revised suspension tuning, which results in sharper handling, and its livelier steering that adds a bit more confidence and feedback. According to test drivers, the steering is quick, light, and razor sharp in its response, with the 40/60 torque split helping the car rotate artfully around while its stability control helps in the case of extreme understeer or oversteer.
The good: it has sumptuous interior, even more powerful turbocharged 12-cylinder engine than the regular GT, standard all-wheel drive and extensive customisation possibilities.
The bad: Reviewers complained about its heavy feel, outdated infotainment interface, limited headroom and legroom for rear passengers and that it’s pricey.
