The simple training exercise behind Iniesta, Xavi and Barcelona

At its best, Barcelona’s rapid passing style of play can be difficult to keep up with and comprehend.
Behind the technical brilliance of players such as Xavi and Andres Iniesta and the stunning football that has led to almost unprecedented success in recent seasons, however, is the simplest of training-ground exercises – the rondo.
From age 8 at La Masia, the club’s famous youth academy, all the way to the first team, Barcelona’s present and future stars play a special kind of keep-ball to learn the secrets of dominating possession.
“It's all about rondos,” Xavi said in an interview with the Guardian in 2011. “Rondo, rondo, rondo. Every. Single. Day. It's the best exercise there is. You learn responsibility and not to lose the ball.”
